Crossing the ancient tunnels of the ex railway line, now one-way road regulated by traffic lights, you reach the village of Moneglia, where the province of Genoa begins. Moneglia boasts of ancient origins and a history left its mark in the surrounding area.
Dominated by the massive structures of the two castles of Monleone and Villafranca, works built by the Republic of Genoa to defend by sea-attacks, the old town is located in a basin scattered by olive-trees.
And olive oil, the “green gold", has become a great wealth for Moneglia, that celebrates it every year, on Easter Mondays, with a trade fair in which it is possible to purchase the products of the oil art of the area.
