For the most willing ones it is possible to continue through the mountain to reach thetown of Camogli, that, as the name suggests (Wives’ house), for the greatest part of the year it was inhabited only by women waiting for their husbands, experienced sailors that ploughed all the seas of the world.
Its small gulf, dominated by the massive structure of the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, whose foundations lick up the water, it is really picturesque, but the pulsating heart of the country is the fishermen harbour, with the "gozzi" moored, waiting for the fishing.
Being here on second Sunday of May is indeed a special occasion, when the whole village rallies for the famous Fish festival.
On the small square in front of the harbour they install a frying pan with a diameter of 4 meters where quintals of fish (anchovies) are fried to be later on distributed among the visitors.
