A little of history about Pietra Ligure

On one of the most beautiful coasts of the Western Italian Riviera, stretching between the Caprazoppa and Capo di Borghetto for almost three Km you can find Pietra Ligure.
The stream Botassano divides it from Borgio-Verezzi, for the ones coming from east; a small area, still devoted to gardens, orchards and, toward the hill, of olive trees growing, separates it from Loano, for the ones coming from West.
Pietra Ligure overlooks a coastline which is one of the most beautiful and clean of the whole Western Italian Riviera, where you can find beautiful white sandy beach, giving the possibility of a quiet swim also to the most fearful and to the children who learn how to familiarize with water.
Tall palms stand out along the Waterfront, bordering the beach for the whole length of the town. Palms, flowers, sea, and the pleasant line of lively painted houses they cheer the walk offering to everybody an oasis of calm and serenity

Behind Pietra Ligure, gentle hills rise, where you can still find gardens and cultivated fields. To the hills the tallest mountains succeed, culminating in the Mountain Carmo (1389 ms a. s. l.), having the characteristics of the Alps and creating a natural defence from the cold climates of the hinterland, giving to Pietra Ligure a mild climate, also during the coldest season.

Located along the national road Aurelia, Pietra Ligure is far from Genoa less than eighty Km, to the West the highway leads to Ventimiglia and the border with France, located at less than 100 Km.
The railway station. on the line Genoa-Ventimiglia it is a further connection with which both the Cote d’Azur to the West, Piedmont with the connections from Savona, and Lombardy and the rest of Italy with the connections from Genoa are easy to reach. 
The variety of the natural environment, blending the manifold tones of the blue of the sea with the green of the hills, covered of olive trees and Maquis, where in spring the yellow mimosas stand out, and still the mild climate, moderate in winter and sweetened in summer by the sea breeze, favouring a luxuriant nature, that have attracted Italian and foreign tourists, since last century, and made of Pietra Ligure one of the most important seaside resorts, in the Ligurian coast.

The healthy climate, the calm of the area, the serenity of the landscape elected the town for a tourism ideal for every age, not only during the summer season, but during the whole year.
