Behind Pietra Ligure, gentle hills rise, where you can still find gardens and cultivated fields. To the hills the tallest mountains succeed, culminating in the Mountain Carmo (1389 ms a. s. l.), having the characteristics of the Alps and creating a natural defence from the cold climates of the hinterland, giving to Pietra Ligure a mild climate, also during the coldest season.
Located along the national road Aurelia, Pietra Ligure is far from Genoa less than eighty Km, to the West the highway leads to Ventimiglia and the border with France, located at less than 100 Km.
The railway station. on the line Genoa-Ventimiglia it is a further connection with which both the Cote d’Azur to the West, Piedmont with the connections from Savona, and Lombardy and the rest of Italy with the connections from Genoa are easy to reach.
The variety of the natural environment, blending the manifold tones of the blue of the sea with the green of the hills, covered of olive trees and Maquis, where in spring the yellow mimosas stand out, and still the mild climate, moderate in winter and sweetened in summer by the sea breeze, favouring a luxuriant nature, that have attracted Italian and foreign tourists, since last century, and made of Pietra Ligure one of the most important seaside resorts, in the Ligurian coast.
