Stroll along the “Carruggi” of the small towns of the coast will let you breathe the true soul of this coast. So, walking in the alleys of Celle and Varazze, two ancient Ligurian seamen’s villages, you will be able to admire the typical tall houses with their decorated façades.
Or you can visit Noli, an ancient maritime republic that still today preserves with boldness its own independence with its boundaries and the tall towers. You can walk along ancient “Carruggi”, arcades and on the beach where every morning fishermen sell fresh fish.
You can continue visiting the Saracen village of Varigotti to admire the landscape match of the blue sea and the white beach with its low coloured houses whose architecture recalls the south of the Mediterranean.
Not to miss is a visit to the old town of Albenga, medieval city whose boundaries protect the cathedral of St. Michele, the baptistery with Byzantine mosaics, the small Piazza dei Leoni and the towers of the ancient noble families.
Art Lovers must stop in Albisola, where since 1400 the traditional manufacture of the homonym ceramics has been handed down and few Km from Savona, in the hinterland; you need to visit Altare, famous city that still guards the tradition of the glass art.
Walking for the "caruggi" (typical narrow streets of Ligurian old towns) or having a walk near the sea it will happen to you to smell typical Ligurian perfumes: the focaccia, the pesto sauce, the fresh fish, and the basil… which will follow you for the rest of your holiday.
If the long walks in Liguria make you thirsty you will be able to quench your thirst with white wines like Pigato or Vermentino, or red ones like Rossese DOC " Riviera Ligure di Ponente " and the IGT " Colline Savonesi.
