Bussana vecchia
It is a special part of Sanremo. An corner containing an unique history: a village destroyed by an earthquake more than one century ago, with its human tragedies, its anxieties, its characteristics whose ruins are a over a hundred year-old testimony.
"Dead", because destroyed by a ruinous earthquake in 1887, abandoned by its inhabitants and reconstructed more downhill; it came back to life during the Sixties when a group of artists chose it as working place. Since then the "magic" of Bussana continues.
Artists, in silence, work on the streets and in the squares among the ancient ruins, and tourists from all over the world come to try to understand the secrets of this village that could return to life. Bussana Vecchia, an important stop along the Flowers Riviera- from Cervo to Ventimiglia, is not to miss.
Dolceacqua
It is a splendid village with old houses leant against each other, tightly assembled under the massive structure of theDoria Castle, surrounded by gentle fields covered of olive-trees and grapevine, here the famous wine Rossese DOC and a famous cold pressed olive oil are produced. Medieval village, risen along the stream Nervia, it was feud of the Counts of Ventimiglia and later of the Dorias and participated actively to the struggle between Guelphs and Ghibellines.
It is worth a visit, not only for gastronomic purchases, but also for the splendid Medieval humpbacked bridge with 38 metres arch span called "Old Bridge".
